VACATION!

Hey gang,
We're taking this week off to work on our next failed television project:
(Promotional artwork courtesy of the Intern-Thing and 900 Koreans.)

We're currently in a fierce battle with the network to determine how many mature vagina closeups we are allowed to show on Saturday mornings. (The network is demanding at least five per episode.) Anyway, we'll be back in a week. See you turkeys later!

Hopefully you can spend your time off figuring out what other ideas you can rip off from the Found Footage Fest dudes.

Can't wait to see what you add to the seemingly neverending list. This is the second thing you've ripped off from their last show - FFF After Dark and FFF Saturday Morning Mysteries. Not to mention that your boring week was pretty much the same as their boring montage that they did like 3 years ago.

But hey, what do I know? Good luck in all your future endeavors!

If Nickelodeon's any indication, showing only 5 antiquated crotches is awfully conservative.

@Anonymous: You again? You of all people should know that we steal all of our ideas from EFukt.

Uh huh. Slough it off. Doesn't make me any less right. You guys are still the worst.

@Anonymous: And you keep coming back because you hate us. Right.

In the interest of public education, please be sure you know the difference between a vagina and a vulva. A vagina is an internal organ that can only be seen with a speculum.

The only thing better than the found footage festival is everything. If only you guys would rip them off more. First you could start by cracking bad jokes over your found footage! I've always wished your posts had an early morning radio DJ style group of wanna be stand ups cracking hack one liners over all the found footage! After all, who wants to watch found footage, when you could listen to attention hungry dorks laughing at each other instead? Although i suppose since the found footage festival stole that technique from mst3k and then bastardized it, perhaps you should let them have it. Instead you could steal their creative name! Oh no wait, i suppose they earned that name, by INVENTING FOUND FOOTAGE. Yup, they created the concept of found art. In fact i think they invented irony as well. But, you EIT guys with your amazingly creative and fun live shows, crazy fucking costumes, amazing editing techniques, and hilarious and artful approach to found footage owe those dorks so much. After all, i never would have started watching bad movies for fun with friends, if it weren't for the found footage guys who told the world that sometimes shit is funny for being bad. Man, i owe those found footage dorks a whole bunch of blow jobs for teaching America about finding footage. And inventing irony.

@Anonymous: That's Lord Hinyin, our personal erotic self-fulfillment guru. So far, he's only appeared in our live shows so he's probably unfamiliar to many.

Wow, I thought this was just a bunch of comments wishing you guys a happy vacation and being thankful for all those Korean animators at your disposal/command.

Anyway, I'm thankful for the internet monsters of THIS web site for providing me more collective time of entertainment this year than anyone or anything else.

I like it that this guy thinks we read FFF's site and go to their shows to think up ways to 'rip them off.' The very boring truth of this is that Lehr The Intern Thing drew that while on tour over the summer and we posted it cause we like funny things and like to show off our talented pals. Honestly, if we knew about their after dark or boring montages why would we want to be seen as a bunch of Johnny-Come- Lately's? Since we post 5 days a week pretty much all year round, we here at EIT eventually notice very obvious patterns and doing a boring week just seemed funny to us one day and so we did it. We didn't wait for FFF to come to our town and see if it was something they were doing too, we just had a lot of boring tapes and wanted to post them. See how uninteresting is is to learn the behind the scenes of EIT? It's about as boring as boring week itself. If you wish, we could send you every idea we ever have and you could cross-check with FFF and make sure we are not stealing the concept of things like 'videos for people who like laughing at things while at work' or 'things for stoners to do while at home on a Sunday afternoon.'

People email us saying they rip us off (Cat Massage, for example)- but I highly doubt they have seen a fraction of our videos and think up ways to 'get us' by finding the same tapes and claiming ownership of something that neither party owns. Anyone who spends their days digging through thrift stores all day is bound to find a 'Cat Massage' at some point. And since there is more than one copy in existence it's no surprise that they found it and thought it was funny too. We obviously have the same weird obsession and as long as they love VHS as deeply as we do, so more power to them.

I would go on, but it's so boring I'm practically falling asleep as I type this. All I want to do is make funny and psychedelic videos from VHS tapes.

I heard that Ghoul Skool beat up the fff guys and made them cry so now he's trying to smooth things out to avoid lawsuit. I also heard fff has something to do with kkk. just what i heard. oh also Ghoul Skool is in the Illuminati. that shits a fact.

IMHO, it's a better strategy to just ignore Mr./Ms. Anonymous. All he/she wants is attention, and if we legitimize nasty posts with any response, it will just encourage them. If not, he'll get bored and leave.

I've always enjoyed the comment threads here for their intelligent and cordial air. It's been a rare oasis in an expansive hostile desert. I really hope that doesn't start to change.

Trolling isn't clever, it just ruins the fun. Please don't feed the trolls, EITers!

Here are your loyal fans David and Allison sending nothing but positive vibes your way! NO ONE WILL EVER LOVE YOU AS MUCH AS WE DO.

but seriously super cool brave anonymous troll what DO you know besides wiping away your sad ronery tears with cheeto stained fingers?

I'm with Pudding, I do my best not to feed the trolls. I love the commenters here as much as I love the videos.
I feel like EIT is one of the few things in this internet realm that truly loves me back.

@Pudding & Ravenhollow: You are both right. Assholes will be assholes. We do try to ignore the trolls, but sometimes it can be difficult to resist the natural urge to defend yourself.

Anyway, if I can be real for a second, for every troll comment we've ever gotten, we've gotten about five hundred more comments from smart, funny, and genuinely nice people. Seriously, none of this would be possible without your support and we are eternally grateful for it. You guys and gals are what makes this whole thing worth it. Love and pizza and shade tips for everyone!

Ghoul Skool said...

Oh yeah! I forgot to mention that. I honestly think we have the smartest, sexiest, and greatest commenters in the whole world wide web. I mean it, you guys rule.

It just kind of felt like when i was in the seventh grade when some kid said that weezer was ripping off pearl jam and i felt like, "but i like the song about the sweater and i don't like pearl jam!" you know?

Troll logic dictates that

a) if two people come up with similar concepts, one had to have copied the other.

b) if they did copy the other, it was a means to make money or steal the limelight.

News to trolls: no idea has ever existed in a vacuum. The lightbulb moment is a myth. Concepts only develop from creative exchange. If EIT seems similar to FFF or vice versa, it's because both engage with pop culture dregs.

This obsession with 'who had it first' is capitalist bullshit. Ideas, critique and humour are still, thankfully, free. If it's good, it'll be shared and developed. EIT is good.

Thanks for the chance to mount a sober defence of the funny.

The ownage by the EIT guys is pretty fucking amazing that I got to hand it to the little guy to keep firing a punch. Its just cute at this point. The person who thought of the phrase intellectual property should be burned in effigy for the Indians today.
