Anyone who has even minimal experience with it will tell you this. It's not just strobe lights and colours, and it's far deeper than just its synaesthetic aspects. When a person trips they often tap into an actual sixth-sense experience, although it doesn't always happen since it's very set-and-setting dependent. People have actual psychic flashes when taking psychedelics, and this would be impossible to mimic electronically unless you had a cyberpunk-level neural interface implanted...MAYBE.
