OH MAN could they have chosen a worse representative for their "message?" She makes the new supreme court lady look like a blast to chill with by comparison.
Seriously though. EIT continues to blow my mind. Perfect edits. LOVE how the laugh track matches the audience response shots.
This lady may as well have told everyone to mimic a Steven Wright routine.
(Not that I don't like Steven Wright, but only Steven Wright can do Steven Wright jokes.)
This also reminds me of a how-to cartooning book I have lying around that had some of the worst humor advice I'd ever read: "Remember, if a situation causes laughter at no one's expense, it will probably make a good cartoon."
Brilliant editing but it was hopeless. Nothing could prompt me to laugh at anything that woman said, ever. Except maybe a number of listed items all under one general heading to be real humorous or real entertaining, always to make a point or to have something to laugh at.
Humor is important, but not when it's sarcastic or simply for the sake of humor or distracting you from the fact that you're spending your best years in a miserable office environment. Now let's go to the Humor Corner and down a few dozen Ambien shall we?
"Have someone dress up like a clown at your workplace. Have them dress up like John Wayne Gacy as a clown. Practice laughing at him, then practice an uncomfortable chuckle."
who told this woman that wearing nothing but primary colors makes you more professional?
ReplyDeletehow many other colors could she possibly wear?
clip-art = big laffs
ReplyDeleteCanned laughter is the best laughter.
ReplyDeleteIs this one of those classes where the cheques are made out directly to the speaker?
ReplyDelete"Show clips from a funny movie and have everybody practice laughing."
ReplyDeleteYOU VILL BE FUNNY. YOU VILL LAFF! LAFF, SVINEHUND!
Nothing says funny like making humour a chore.
Sit down. Is time for mandatory company joke time to improve productivity. The prop gags will continue until moral improves...
ReplyDeleteBullet points have helped me to finally understand humor. Well, bullet points AND shoulder pads.
ReplyDeleteWhat's with the black box in the corner?
ReplyDeleteNothing like humor for a lobotomy patient.
ReplyDeleteI can see the drool glistening off your comatose coworkers faces as you tell one of your topical, non-sarcastic, no bite jokes.

She's so right. Sarcastic humor is never funny.
ReplyDeleteWow, she was hi-laaarious!

Bravo, I say! Bravo for the innovative use of laugh track when cutting to an expressionless audience. Editing is the unsung hero of comedy.
ReplyDeleteOn a quasi-related note: cartoons with laugh tracks freak me out.
Good editing on this one EIT.
ReplyDelete"who told this woman that wearing nothing but primary colors makes you more professional?"
ReplyDeleteGreen is not a primary color.
Green is a primary color of light, though not of pigment. And not of Frankenstein sweaters.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant editing but it was hopeless. Nothing could prompt me to laugh at anything that woman said, ever. Except maybe a number of listed items all under one general heading to be real humorous or real entertaining, always to make a point or to have something to laugh at.
ReplyDeleteShit, now we know where David Brent got his inspiration.
ReplyDeleteInvest in Garfield posters.
ReplyDelete"Shit, now we know where David Brent got his inspiration."
ReplyDeleteHe was all I could think about while watching this clip.
This women has clearly explained why David Letterman is not funny.
ReplyDeleteYeah what's up with the blacked out watermark? Did Yogi Ogi Dogi's lawyers demand such actions be taken?

ReplyDelete"One EIT link sent to staff members/day = happiest office in the world"
ReplyDeleteVery, very debatable.
It's funny to have Robert Ben Garant show up at your office in drag and talk about the importance of humor in the workplace.
ReplyDeleteNice. Wearing bright colors to convey a whimsical mood to your audience works every time. I'm convinced that she is funny.
ReplyDeleteActually, she kind of reminds me of Ross Perot a little. That's funny. Maybe that's her shtick.
SO. CHIPPER.
ReplyDelete"What are some examples of things that are not funny?"
ReplyDeleteUm, this presentation?
This woman is like a female Michael Scott.
ReplyDeletehumor corner, go stand in it.
