Thanks to you fine folks, this has easily been the most psychedelic year in Ghoul Skool's life!  Two tours, a HUGE festival, and the biggest accomplishment being the film that Commodore Gilgamesh and I made in January, 'DoggieWoggiez! PoochieWoochiez!' Available now!  And did we ever mention Flying Lotus did an original song for the film?  I don't think we talked about that enough, and for that, we're dumb.  Either way, thanks for the awesome year, everyone!  See you in 2013!

Oh yeah, and Tiny Mix Tapes put DoggieWoggiez!  Poochie Woochiez! at #10 on their top 30 films of the year!  Holy smokes, we beat Holy Motors!

IT'S OUR FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

Five years ago today, we started this blog as a way for weirdos to violate copyright law across state lines. In honor of this momentous day, we now reprint that revolutionary blog post in its entirety.


Before the existence of the wonder that is Youtube, there was '15 Minute IT.' It was the year 2000, and Allen brought this gem down to Ohio University from Mentor, OH one Christmas break and almost immediately it became an obsession with all of us. As far as we were concerned, this was the 'Star Wars Kid' of our freshmen year, and back then there was no real venue for this sot of thing. The first time I saw it I was completely baked, and I remember losing control in laughter. It was the kind of thing we'd show at parties, and usually it was shown 3-5 times a night as we dove deeper and deeper into our weed comas. God, were we ever so innocent?

Considering how precious this tape meant to us, you'd think we would've taken better care of it. The tape itself broke at one point, so we had to carefully rip the plastic, and transfer the magnetic tape into another like some sort of open-heart surgery for VHS. We even had a friend of ours transfer it into a Quicktime file, but over the years all of our hard drives crashed, and every copy was lost forever. It was sort of cursed in many ways. But that only added to the legend that was '15 Minute IT.' Over the years, women falling in grape barrels and moms getting punched helped heal the wound of our loss- but it never felt right. I knew the only way to see '15MI' again was to re-create it from memory. And considering I'd seen it dozens upon dozens of times, my mind would be my only reference. Since I had never seen the original 'IT' in the first place, I found that it was like having a bell go off in my head everytime I heard a line like 'Cut 'em! Huh? Cut 'em?!'

The man who put this whole thing together was a kid named Matt Carter. All I really know about him was that he went to Mentor High, and is now living in Columbus. We hope to be getting the original tape very soon, and I've also heard about a '15 Minute Night Of The Living Dead' which I will have wet dreams about until it is posted.

I am so pumped for our upcoming tour(s) for so many reasons, but mainly I just can't wait to see your shining faces again. The show we're working on is going to be more batshit bonkers than ever before, and we are bursting at the seams with excitement!

Since we are doing something few have ever done before: tour two coasts at the same time- we need to promote the hell out of this tour/DVD. And so we're asking YOU to be our street team on bath salts. All that means is that if you can think of any crazy ways to let your city know we're coming, go for it! Maybe that means simply bringing your cool uncle to one of our shows, or perhaps you stand up in the middle of finals and yell our tour dates to your class. Putting up posters is also a big help, so let us know if you can be of service (we can send pdf's right away)! Even just posting this trailer on Facebook and Twitter is a big help!

It seems like just yesterday that Zack Carlson brought a 35mm print of the soon-to-be-infamous MIAMI CONNECTION to our first annual Everything is Festival with a simple promise: "This movie is going to blow your face off."

It did-- so much that we brought it back for our third annual Everything is Festival this summer-- and because the world has gone crazy (in the best possible way of course), now MIAMI CONNECTION is opening in theaters across the USA courtesy of Drafthouse Films! 

Seriously, you HAVE to go see this one in theaters. We're third degree black belts in holyfuckingshit here at EIT, and we've never seen people react to a movie the way they do to MIAMI CONNECTION. It demands to be seen a room full of screaming maniacs! 

People danced in the aisles at the New York Asian Film Festival, kids broke concrete blocks with their bare hands at the Cinefamily, Fantastic Fest fanatics practically burned the Alamo Drafthouse to the ground, and fans showed their devotion with a high kick contest at the Music Box! 

The madness spreads this weekend as MIAMI CONNECTION opens at Seattle's Grand Illusion Cinema, The Roxie in San Francisco and the Hi-Pointe in St. Louis, with screenings in LA, NYC, Austin, Detroit, Denver, Nashville and more coming next weekend and throughout November!
