YELLOW DINO: PEDO HUNTER

Have you ever wondered what Law & Order: SVU would be like if the detective was a hip yellow dinosaur? Wonder no more.

Trust the lizard. Good message.

Thanks to Emily A. and Jtron for the tape!

  1. This cannot be serious. It actually cannot be serious.

  2. It is funny, but the massive fear-the-strangers propaganda of the 80s ultimately has a political purpose. It justifies the rather overblown law enforcement response given to pedophiles (really a very small number of people), it gives parents the impression that the world is arranged families-vs-evil, and it becomes a hot-button issue that sleazy politicians can flog to get votes, people like the Mark Foley, who actually did send sexually provocative material to underage staffers.

  3. A vigilante dinosaur? Awesome!

  4. Apparently it's spelled Yellow DYNO, not Dino...

  5. Looks more like Woodstock.

  6. JohnH wins the award for the most pretentious and paranoid comment I have read all day.
    Also vigilante dinosaur.

  7. Woodstock went into a lot of more serious, darker work after the Peanuts cartoons retired.

Snoopy, on the other hand, was found dead outside a Manhattan nightclub after a lethal speedball.

  8. "Norma, take Lyric home."

  9. Seriously..."Lyrica"? Like the Fibromyalgia medication?

Also, my captcha, "segmicks", sounds like the name of something really filthy, or the name of a family funtime eatery.

  10. I think I've watched the EIT! movies too much, as soon as I saw our extinct yellow friend his "HYEAH!" popped into my brain and stayed there. Definitely one of my favourites for this year so far.
Also WHAT THE FUCK that shit got serious. That Dyno ain't playin' 'round.

  11. That's totally Elliot Stabler in dinosaur form.

  12. Why did his voice change when he got really mad?

    Also, OH PLEASE, JohnH.

  13. JohnH: you should check out the paedophilia episode of BRASS EYE. Actually all y'all should, it is hilarious: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9031532194656768989

  14. Oh my god, this is my favorite video of the year so far. It got so serious for a minute there.

  15. This was like Law & Order.
I kept expecting to hear a "Ching ching!"

  16. Maybe I overreacted a little.

But just a little. When I was growing up there was a whole cottage industry of these tapes. My own parents overreacted to the point where I basically didn't get to do much of anything social.

There are real dangers out there, but their influence appears to be wildly overblown. I've never seen numbers that make the child abduction hysteria sensible.

This government publication appears to be a good summation of the situation: http://www.ncjrs.gov/pdffiles1/ojjdp/196467.pdf

  17. In JohnH's defense, the threat of 'strangers' was ridiculously overblown in the 90s. We have ample video evidence.

And everybody should watch Brass Eye. Chris Morris is a genius.

  18. Looks like they couldn't get Ellen Page back for "Hard Candy II," so they went with a yellow dinosaur again.

  19. This sounds like a bad To Catch A Predator ripoff, but 50000 times less entertaining.

  20. Inside scoop, I was an extra in one of these Yello Dyno videos at the ripe old age of 12 (I'm 24 now). They needed dancers for the "Tricky People" number and my dance class were the lucky ones invited to participate.

The "series" was filmed in Dallas, the same location as that other dinosaur that likes to stalk children. There was a girl in my dance class who played "Hannah" on Barney, so maybe that's why we ended up involved in the production? Who knows, all I know is I got to skip school that day and hang out at the mall.

  22. C'mon, now, Dyno! What kinda photographer would Reginald be if he WASN'T trying to bang one of his models?

  24. Penn & Teller's Bullshit! did an episode on Stranger Danger that was pretty awesome - definitely was a freak out over very little. Most kiddie abductions and the like are by family members anyway. FUN!

  25. Yellow Dyno may be a great crime-cracker... but he just doesn't give me a raging hard-on the way Elliot Stabler does. Elliot Stabler wins.

  26. So - what lure are you using on the little kids today, huhhh???

Wait, not the old "I'm going to use vignettes and sax music to teach you about avoiding predators" routine!

  30. can you please put the entire video online?!

  31. Good thing that guy had double doors.

  32. It ain't trickin' if ya got it.

  33. I like the sincerity the actor playing the pedo photographer brings to his role. "You're no better than me, lizard!"

  34. OH MY GOD, I was wondering if this program had ever seen the light of day on YouTube.

My sister bought the video at a Goodwill (or some other thrift store), and whenever we need a good laugh, we pop this in.

It's also funny to know that the voice of Yellow Dyno is a comedian.

    And I'd totallly tap Reginald.

  36. "Tricky people"...like those who dress up in borderline-copyright-infringement costumes and wander around malls "protecting" kids.

  37. Notice how Yello Dino has the "sassy black" voice at the beginning, but when he's grilling the pedophile he has the "serious white" voice?

  38. Attention NCJRS.

Please do not store documents about abducted children in a directory called pdffiles1.

    That's frickin' hilarious.

    Also, my captcha is "scroo".

  39. I'm sorry, a yellow dinosaur punching a safe with his bare hand is pretty awesome.
