It is to demonstrate the particulate concentration of the smoke. Depending on the size of the particulates and the number per unit volume of smoke, you might see them trapped in the fabric.
Who is the audience for this kind of video? It's not a TV commercial. Are smokers watching smoking infomercials late at night?
