Still lots of trailers to show you guys, and for those of you who simply cannot make it to Los Angeles for this years' Everything Is Festival (August 19-28th)- we have good news. The geniuses at Stickam are going to be LIVE STREAMING A TON OF EVENTS! More info as it comes along, but we hope that if you're trapped at some lame government job or video game store in the middle of nowhere, you can at least hang out with us DIGITALLY. Here are a couple shows I'm very happy to announce...
And on a completely different, but equally awesome note, may we present an event showcasing Adult Swim's lastest eye candy. When your show is called 'Off The Air' and it’s on at 3AM, you’re almost daring viewers to hunt down and discover an incredible show like this. Thankfully we did, and we cannot wait to share it with you. Each episode starts with a simple theme (animals, food, etc.), and what happens next is hard to explain. In an insanely short amount of time, the show’s creator David Hughes curates the most wonderfully bizarre and disturbingly beautiful short films of our time. Dave Hughes will be here in person to show us unseen shorts, his favorite gems, and God knows what else! HERE'S DEM TICKET LINK, HE-UK!
Skiing ostriches! Oh I how wish I could be there to see it!
ReplyDeleteSTREAMING STUFF?! Oh you guys really do love me. Someday I will free myself from retail servitude and have the money to be there in the fur, but until then this will do! <3
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing, do you have the song name?
ReplyDeleteI'm ascared!
ReplyDeleteDudes name is Flying Lotus. JDilla in the flesh. thank me later, Anonymous. Good luck finding the song; dudes discography is massive.
ReplyDeleteDilla and Lotus are completely different, lets not compare apples to oranges because two black guys can make awesome music.
ReplyDeleteThat sounded more racist than I wanted it to.
ReplyDeleteI've listened to and have joyfully absorbed both Dilla and Lotus' entire collection of available work - in addition to some of dillas unreleased work - and I can honestly say that both artists share many, many similarities. I'll firmly stand by my probably sensationalistic statement about Lotus being somewhat of a pseudo Dilla.
ReplyDeleteListening to Lotus' work seemingly imbues within the listener a strong sensation of familiarity IF he or she has enjoyed the entirety of Dillas work. It's almost as if Lotus - and I wouldn't doubt this - got lots of inspiration from Dilla. Lotus' 38 Cartoons Album is a perfect example of the two artists styles and the evident familiarities within.
Dilla and Lotus are not completely different. The vibrations that permeate from the vinyl all flow on the same frequency; it touches the soul as well as pleases the ear. Dilla and Lotus having been born with melanin has nothing to do with their music ability.
