To celebrate the terrible changes made to the recent Star Wars Blu-ray release, here's a movie that aired on network TV only 4 months before Star Wars IV hit theaters. Mark Hamill plays an unpredictable psychotic who holds a deadly grudge against a famous country singer who punched him in the face when he was a baby.
bonus video: Star Wars Ballet from French TV
I've seen 6-year-olds do more complicated ballet than that. LAME. And the French consider themselves to be good at that kinda stuff? FAIL.
ReplyDeleteI think this was a simple TV show's attempt for a musical number to the horrid "Star Wars and other Galactic Funk" LP from 1977/
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, the ballet is recounting the infamous scene in which C3PO and Vader duke it out. Classic.
ReplyDeletethis is the role i'll remember mark hamill for.
ReplyDeletethey've captured the intricacies of starwars perfectly
ReplyDeleteI can imagine vader walking up to luke during a ho-down, saying "Luke, I am your partner!"
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing for Mark Hamill's victims that it wasn't also GARBAGE DAY.
ReplyDeleteYou know you'd think with him being a Lord and all he'd have some fancier footwork. Just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteHa, you can tell tight gold pants that C3PO is a FULLY functioning robot. Much like Data from Next Generation. Thanks for scarring my precious childhood memories you french frogs!
ReplyDeleteDon't let Lucas see that last clip, he just might decide to add it to his next "updated" version...possibly the first clip, too.
ReplyDeleteI get the impression that the choreographer (such as it is) never actually saw any of the Star Wars movies, perhaps just found a box of costumes and a disco version of the soundtrack.
ReplyDeleteAh, well...vive la Jerry Lewis!
I can't tell which clip I liked more. Then again, I'm tripping balls on neurological medication.
ReplyDeleteis that jodi foster in the last two seconds of the video
ReplyDeleteRe: 70s star wars disco
ReplyDeleteCocaine's a helluva drug.
I can't stop laughing at the "country star punching a baby" concept. That's pure gold.
ReplyDeleteThis is what the original trilogy will be like in another 10 years.
ReplyDeleteExcellent French choreography! Wonderful dance troupe! Elegant, chic, avant garde, stunning costume design, all of the hallmarks of French culture in one video!
ReplyDeleteWow. That was just amazing. Perhaps the best video I have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteFRENCH STARWARS BALLET: Who did the music for this, it's amazing! disco starwars beat with the bar scene breakdown. EPIC! and was that Jodie Foster at the end?
ReplyDeleteI remember hearing a really odd song by Jodie Foster where she sings (speaks) in French...I bet that was what she was going to perform on the show.
ReplyDeleteIs this going to be released in 3D at some point in the timeline?
ReplyDeleteI watched the whole thing :(
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful that this is the last thing I see before I kill myself.
ReplyDeleteOne expects this from the Japanese, but the French? Shocked! Shocked I say! At least this was before Jar Jar Binks.
ReplyDeleteAs for me and my house, we prefer Shatner's "Rocket Man."
Yet another reason to hate french!
