I like to imagine that everyone in the world was getting funky like this when I was born, that this video is the entire substance of my origin - a utopia of legends, a Krypton, and my great power, hidden deep inside and otherwise lost to everyone, is breakin' and poppin' the likes of which will bring the new world into a state of everlasting peace.
I keep coming back to this video every few years to remind me of what my life was like in 1985. It rings truer with each passing year.
I just don't remember my grandmother attending the spontaneous, unsupervised, multiethnic, intergenerational breakdancing demonstrations in the gymnasium.
