I just sat here for a half hour looking for a really old Pathetic Geek Story that doesn't seem to exist on the internet anymore. Here's the synopsis: A teen is watching a parade in his hometown, and Mr. Belvedere himself (Christopher Hewett) is the grand marshal. The kid starts screaming, as though it's the most awesome thing that has ever occurred, "Oh my god, it's Mr. Belevedere!". Christopher Hewett addresses the kid directly, from his float, and tells him to calm down.
When I was a kid, I remember going to some Cleveland Cook-Off thing where they had a giant inflatable balloon of Mr. Belvedere himself. I remember nothing else from the day, other than Mr. B, towering over me like a regal dinosaur. Beautiful.
We all have regrets, sure. But not taking a picture of it all really goes up there with the time I didn't walk five feet to meet Warwick Davis at a comic book convention in Chicago when I was 12. Ugh.
If I know anything about kids, its that they love stuffy old men!
